Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students
We are signatories to, and have agreed to observe and be bound by, the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students published by the Minister of Education. Copies of the Code are available on request from this institution or from the New Zealand Ministry of Education website
Summary of the Code of Practice
The Code sets standards for eductional providers to ensure that:
• High professional standards are maintained
• The recruitment of international students is undertaken in an ethical and responsible manner
• Information supplied to international students is comprehensive, accurate and up to date
• Students are provided with information prior to entering into any commitments
• Contractual dealings with international students are conducted in an ethical and responsible manner
• The particular needs of international students are recognized
• International students under the age of 18 are in safe accommodation
• All providers have fair and equitable internal procedures for the resolution of international student grievances
Indemnity Statement
We are responsible for our own compliance with this Code and indemnify the Code Administrator against all expenses, losses, damages and costs (on a full indemnity basis) incurred by or awarded against the Administrator arising out of any claim by any person in relation to:
1. Our breach of any provision of the code
2. The manner in which we perform any of our obligations under the Code
3. Any, false, misleading or deceptive conduct on our part
The principles of fairness and natural justice will be applied in consideration of any claim under this section.
International Student Entry Requirements
Certificate in CAD Draughting (Level 3) -26 weeks:
- Minimum age of 18 years and over;
- High School Diploma or equivalent qualification; and/or
- Relative industry experience.
Certificate in CAD Draughting and Design (Level 4) - 22 Weeks:
- Minimum age of 18 years and over;
- High School Diploma or equivalent qualification; and/or
- Relative industry experience.
English Language Requirements
Computer Aided Design Training has the following English language requirements for any prospective student wanting to enrol for whom English is a second language.
Minimum level required:
IELTS - General Training Test
Level 4.5 - 5.0 (General Training Reading)
Level 3.5 - 4.0 (General Training Writing)
TOEFL
Level 450 - 475

Withdrawal, Cancellation and Refund Policies and Procedures
Trainees will receive a refund of fees, minus costs*, in the following situations:
*Note - Administration Costs of 10% of the total course fee or $500 whichever is the lesser.
- The trainee formally withdraws from the course within 8 days after commencement (where the trainee formally withdraws from the course after 8 days have elapsed from commencement, any refund of fees is at the discretion of the Company)
- A trainee wishing to claim a refund of fees shall submit a claim in writing to the company, at which point the director responsible will verify the claim and, if accepted, arrange for payment within one calendar month
Trainees will not receive a refund in the following situations:
- A statutory day(s) falls within the course. This has been taken into account to ensure NZQA requirements are fulfilled
- Due to reasons beyond the control of CAD Design Training. The school will ensure the impact on delivery time will be kept to a minimal
Please note:
Where the company closes a course, trainees will be refunded the proportion of the course tuition fees represented by the balance of the course to be taught. Additionally, CAD Design Training will make all reasonable efforts to enable the trainees to complete course outcomes at an alternative training establishment.
Student Fee Protection
Te Kura Tuhono O Aotearoa Trust Account provides student fee protection coverage and operates independently of the CAD Design Training.

Travel and Health Insurance
Eligibility for Health Services
Most International students are not entitled to publicly funded health services while in New Zealand. If you require medical treatment during your visit, you may be liable for the full costs of that treatment. Full details are available through the Ministry of Health, and can be viewed on their website.
Students entitled to publicly funded health services while in New Zealand are:
- A resident or citizen of Australia; or
- A national of the United Kingdom in New Zealand; or
- The holder of a temporary permit that is valid for two years or more.
Health and Travel Insurance
International students must have the appropriate and current health and travel insurance while studying in New Zealand. The New Zealand Welding School can provide application forms for Uni-care Insurance to provide travel and medical insurance for your tenure of study and for your travel to and from New Zealand. This service currently costs approximately $NZ196.00 - $NZ245.00, application form and details are included in the information pack provided. Should you want to use this service please return the completed form to us as soon as possible.
Accident Insurance
The Accident Compensation Corporation provides accident insurance for all New Zealand citizens, residents and temporary visitors to New Zealand, but you may still be liable for all other medical and related costs. Further information can be viewed on the ACC website.
Support Services
CAD Design Training has a designated International Student Coordinator available at all schools to advise and assist International students.
A list of agencies is supplied with the Student Handbook, discussed in detail with each student as part of the induction day programme.
The CAD Design School is committed to ensuring each student is provided with assistance to ensure the transition to study in New Zealand is made as easy as possible.
International Student Application Procedure
1. Complete the International Student Website Application Form (ENROL NOW link below) and submit online.
2. If you fulfil the enrolment requirements we will forward to you an "Offer of Place" which will contain the following information:
- The name of the course
- Start and finish dates
- Course fees
- Fee payment details
3. Upon receipt of your fees payment, a "Confirmation of Place" and receipt will be sent to you for your Visa application with Immigration New Zealand.
4. If you are successful in obtaining your Student Visa, you are required to provide us with a copy before you can be officially enrolled and start your course.
